SSC CGL Syllabus 2022:- SSC CGL (Staff Selection Commission-Combined Graduate Level) Examination is an exam which is conducted for the recruitment of staff to various posts in different ministries, departments, and organizations in the Government of India. It is conducted by Staff Selection Commission for the selection of staff for various Group B and C posts.


This exam is conducted in four tiers namely tier-1, tier-2, tier-3, and tier-4. Tier-1 and Tier-2 are computer-based online tests, Tier-3 is pen and paper tests and Tier-4 is a Computer Skills Test. In order to have a better view and understanding of the exam pattern and syllabus, keep on reading.

Tier-1 is conducted online and it comprises of 100 questions and overall marks of 200. SSC CGL Tier-1 is of 60 minutes with 4 subjects each having 25 questions and maximum marks as 50.

Tier-2 is conducted online and it comprises 100 or 200 questions with a maximum score of 200. SSC CGL tier-2 is of 120 minutes with 4 subjects. The four subjects included in this tier are as follows:

Tier-3 is an offline mode, descriptive type using which is taken y the candidate via pen and paper. It is replaced by the interview round and it is used to test the writing skills of the candidate. It is conducted in the English/Hindi language. This tier has maximum marks of 100 and a time duration of 60 minutes.


Tier-4 is conducted in 2 steps:

  1. Skill Test in Data Entry (DEST)
  2. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)

DEST: In this round, the candidate has to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer where the English article would be given prior to the exam which will have to be typed. For the post of Tax Assistant, DEST is used to check the typing speed of the candidate.

CPT: This round is conducted to check the candidate’s proficiency in word processing. Spreadsheets and generation of slides are the three main areas that are tested by SSC for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner).

Tier 4 is a qualifying round by nature and it does not have any marks in the final compilation of the result.

Candidates have to clear all four tiers that are tier-1, tier-2. tier-3 and tier-4 in order to get their desired post and location.
